If there's one time of year you can go OTT, it's Halloween. But for those of you struggling to find the perfect fright night costume – fear not. We've rounded up the most popular Halloween beauty trends from the most talented make-up artists on Instagram. And we aren't talking a few painted on whiskers or a black lip and deathly pale skin, here. These MUA's are wizards with a beauty sponge.
VIDEO: A glittery skull make-up tutorial for Halloween
From glittery undead unicorns and bejewelled metallic skulls to genuinely terrifying Pennywise and Smiley Face costumes, Insta beauty buffs have seriously upped the ante this year. Lucky for us, many of our favourite gurus have given us step-to-step tutorials on how to achieve these mind-blowing transformations. Better still, you probably already have most of the products stashed away somewhere in your make-up bag. So arm yourself with a good black liquid liner and colourful eye shadow palette and get creating…
Smiley Face
If you’re going for all-out shock-factor, Sukhi’s creation from slasher movie Smiley has got you covered. And it’s surprisingly easy to re-create yourself! See the tutorial on her Instagram.
The Kit:
You'll need your go-to foundation (a medium shade would be ever better), white face paint, along with a ton of masking tape and a blood red lipstick.

Metallic Skull
A chic bejewelled twist on a classic skeleton, we’re dubbing this ‘undead princess Elsa’. Might not technically be scary, but who cares when it looks this good!
The Kit:
Take your go-to black liquid/gel eyeliner and a mix of blue and black eye shadows to contour and create your eye. Finish with some badass face jewels – we’re obsessed with gems from The Gypsy Shrine.

Demon Bride
She’s been jilted and now she’s back for her revenge. You do not want to mess!
The Kit:
The creepiness of this transformation is all down to that badly scarred lip. MUA Maureen used masking tape over her mouth to create extra thickness, and applied melted Make Up For Ever Plasto Wax to essentially add on skin – she then carefully sliced into it (gross). You’ll need to see Maureen’s full tutorial to get this look down.

Undead Unicorn
Our unicorn obsession will never die – even if this particular mystical pony has!
The Kit:
To pull this off, you’ll need a seriously colourful palette with a multitude of pinks and blues like Urban Decay’s Electric Palette, plus, a silver liquid lipstick and not forgetting that amazing unicorn horn. Et voilà!

Soul Eating Forest Fairy
Based on a folklore fairy that would suck out the souls of men to stay young and powerful, we think she’s pretty amazing (sorry).
The Kit:
A metallic smoky eye + red and gold lips = a guaranteed winning fright night look. Source some gold leaf for an extra pretty twist.

Hocus Pocus
Every nostalgic-loving millennial will think this Winifred look is perfection. Seriously inspired.
The Kit:
Nail the contouring, and you’ve got it in the bag. Finish it off with her signature heart shaped red lip, spidery false lashes and pile on the pink blush. Red wig and buckteeth not included.

Pennywise
IT makeovers are going to be as popular as last years Harley Quinn. Plus the extra clown ‘cleavage’ is so badass – we like it a lot.
The Kit:
The white face paint is a given, but the best part about this makeup is the floating balloons. Grab your trusting black liquid liner to draw the outline then fill in the balloons with a creamy red face paint – a steady hand is pretty essential here.
