Hooray – it's party season! With a whole host of festivities in the diary, there are plenty of opportunities from now until New Year's to try out different make-up looks. To help out, we spoke to Rimmel's Global Makeup Ambassador James Molloy to get his step-by-step guides to creating both the classic feline flick and the oh-so-festive red lip…Winged eyelinerIt's an iconic look that never dates, but perfecting the classic eyeliner flick is one of the biggest beauty dilemmas out there. If you're not overly confident using a liquid liner, James advises starting with a pencil first as this provides more control. "Make sure your pencil gets right between the lashes to give the illusion of a thicker, fuller lash," he says. "A pencil will smudge nicely so use a small shadow brush to extend the colour outwards at the end of the eye and remove any mistakes with a Q-tip." If you want to go straight in with liquid liner, it's important to take it in stages. "Start by lining from corner to corner then add the flick," says James. "If you're unsure of where the flick should go, try making a tiny dot of liner as your guide so you know where to stop. "Another option for winged eyeliner is to use an angled brush. "It does all the hard work for you!" says James. "Use a gel liner and rest the tip of the brush on the outer corners of your eye to give you the flick, then draw the colour back along the lash line to finish."Red lipA great red liquid lip colour will see you through the party season as they are packed with pigment and very long-lasting – we love Rimmel's Stay Matte Liquid Lip in Firecracker, £5.99. Applying lip liner before your lipstick helps prevent the colour for bleeding or feathering – making it a must for bold shades like red. "If you struggle with lip pencil, try applying your lipstick first then finishing off the shape with the pencil," says James. "This is much easier than drawing a perfect line around the lips."
