MAC is launching a new MATTE lipstick range and we bet you’ll love it

Wearable mattes? MWAH to that.

Our lipstick collections tend to expand faster than our chances to wear them, because even though we boldly want to try a bright coral, we still end up grabbing our go-to lip balm from our handbag to apply as we're dashing out of the door. And because our Saturday nights out are becoming rarer and rarer (thanks, Strictly), so are the opportunity to wear our daring shades. But, that doesn’t mean we don’t get very excited about a new release, and MAC Cosmetics has just sorted every single Christmas present this year by releasing a new ‘Powder Kiss’ formula which sounds just PERFECT for us.

We’re still obsessed with the perfect matte finish of course - we said goodbye to glossy lips when we finished our last ever Juicy Tube, and let’s face it, any time we try and revive the trend we’re reminded just how much hair sticks to our lips at the lightest breeze. But with that soft, pillow-y, Instagram-worthy finish usually comes an entire day of your lips feeling drier than the Victoria sponge we attempted after watching Bake Off. However, MAC’s latest launch describes itself as a matte lipstick that feels like a lip balm, and we are so on board with. Plus, they’re the lippies doing the rounds at Fashion Weeks; their US Instagram page also teased a picture saying “Backstage tested, artist approved”. So does that mean they’ll make us look like Gigi Hadid?

MAC’s Director of Makeup Artistry Terry Barber said: “The powder kiss lipstick formula rose from the backstage technique of putting on lipstick, blotting it off, and feathering it with a brush to create the most beautiful, effortlessly blurred finish. It’s truly colour and finely-tuned conditioning in one product”. There are fifteen shades to choose from that all look reasonably wearable too, from pale blush tones to deeper burgundies and nudes - and they launch online on 29th September in stores from 4th October, costing £17.50. *Squeals*.
