Presenting the Bugaboo Donkey, the £1,200 pushchair

April 14, 2011

Thandie Newton and Gwyneth Paltrow are fans. And there was a time when Gwen Stefani wouldn't be seen without one. We're not talking about the latest It bag from Mulberry or a Victoria Beckham limited edition gown. Or even a pair of ultra covetable Christian Louboutin heels.

The current must-have for the A-list is the Bugaboo, a high-end buggy that's equivalent of a Rolls Royce for the ultimate yummy mummy. Now the Dutch brand has brought out a new stroller, the Bugaboo Donkey, that's the first on the market to break the £1,000-mark, currently retailing at £1,200. Boasting an expandable frame, it transforms with a click from a one-seater to a two-seater. At 29 inches wide, it's also one of the narrowest buggies out there. And the children can face each other, mum, or the outside world depending on how the mood takes them.

That makes it perfect for mothers-to-be like Mariah Carey, who is expecting twins, or Myleene Klass, mother of Ava, three, and Hero, an adorable newborn, who have little ones that are fairly close in age together. The jury's still out out on the Donkey, though. Some point to features like the coffee cup holder, foot muff and extra storage space, saying that makes this baby transporter worth every penny. Others bulk at the lay out involved for what is, after all, only a children's accessory. But the current batch of expectant Hollywood mums like Posh, Mel B and Rod Stewart 's daughter Kimberly need to hurry. In America there's a waiting list to snap one up for your little darling.
