Model Caprice shares miraculous pregnancy tale

June 18, 2013

Model Caprice Bourret has spoken about becoming pregnant for the first time at 41, and about expecting two babies at the same time, one via a surrogate mother 5,000 miles away, and one being carried by herself. "I've waited 41 years for this, I can't wait!" she said, speaking to presenters Holly Willoughby and Philip Schofield on ITV's This Morning. Caprice told of her joy at unexpectedly becoming pregnant after years of struggling with fertility issues and suffering a miscarriage, and having already chosen a surrogate mother.

"In March I found out I was pregnant," she said. "I remember taking a test and thought somebody upstairs is really taking the mickey, but I went to a store and bought every single brand of test and they were all positive. It was one of the best days of my life!" "But the next day I started bleeding so I thought I was miscarrying again," she said. "And then my surrogate called me up and told me that we had lost one of our babies, a girl. "So I went to get checked and was preparing myself, but the doctor turned the screen towards me and I saw a little heartbeat," said Caprice, breaking down in tears. "I don't usually cry like this!" she said, overcome by emotion. "But I promise you, when you look at that screen and when you see that heartbeat after everything you've gone through, the feeling of happiness... I was so grateful. "And now I have my beautiful healthy boy inside of me. I feel him kicking and punching me all the time!"

Caprice and millionaire partner Ty Comfort had been trying to conceive and went through IVF treatment three times. At her doctor's advice, the couple explored their options and decided to look for a surrogate mother. "We wanted someone who had a family, didn't drink, never did drugs, doesn't drink caffeine, exercises, and is a kind, religious lady," said Caprice. "And we found her. We found this lovely, lovely lady and family who were so willing and eager to help us out." Caprice will travel out to America to witness the birth of her first baby boy in August, and then stay there to give birth herself in September.

She took to Twitter to thank her fans and Holly and Phillip for their support, posting, "Thankful for the very warm welcome I received today on #Itv #ThisMorning show from Holly and Phillip.…" alongside a photo of her on the show. Halle Berry, 46, is another woman who has recently expressed her joy at becoming pregnant at her age. "This has been the biggest surprise of my life, to tell you the truth," she told CNN. "I thought I was kind of past the point where this could be a reality for me. So it's been a big surprise and the most wonderful." Halle is expecting a baby boy with French actor Olivier Martinez, to be born in October.
