Jessica Simpson and fiancé Eric Johnson have welcomed their second child, a baby boy named Ace Knute Johnson. The Fashion Star judge, 32, gave birth to her son via caesarean section, at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center on Sunday —the same hospital where Kim Kardashian gave birth to her baby girl North West in June.

"Ace Knute (pronounced Ka-nute) Johnson has arrived," Jessica's representative told Us Weekly. "Mum and baby are doing great." The baby boy's unusual middle name was chosen to honour Eric's Swedish grandfather, Knute Johnson. "Jessica, Eric and Maxwell are thrilled to welcome the new addition to their family," the representative added. The couple, who got engaged in 2010, are already parents to 14-month old daughter Maxwell. They are expanding their brood quickly, as Jessica learnt she was expecting just seven months after Maxwell was born, and admitted the pregnancy was unplanned.

Friends and family have taken to Twitter to congratulate the pop star on her safe delivery. "Very blessed to celebrate the birth of my new grandson," tweeted Jessica's father, Joe Simpson. The Fashion Star judge found an unconventional way to announce she was expecting a boy when she let slip the gender of the baby on a chat show. "I just feel awful, I've been vomiting," she said, speaking to host Jimmy Kimmel. "The crazy thing is, I never knew that a wiener could actually make me nauseous." Gasping after realising her mistake, Jessica said, "Well, I guess I've just told the world I am having a boy!"

The couple have yet to set a wedding date, and have previously had to postpone their plans due to Jessica's back-to-back pregnancies. But a close friend said the couple were hoping to tie the knot soon. "Let's have this wedding already before I get pregnant with another one!" Jessica was quoted as saying at her baby shower in April.
