After giving birth to a baby boy on Monday, Evan Rachel Wood has taken to Twitter to thank talk-show host Ricki Lake for her inspiring her to have a natural home birth. The new mother credits Ricki's 2008 documentary, The Business Of Being Born, for informing her on the birthing options available.
“I have to say thank you @RickiLake for your inspiring documentary “the business of being born” I never knew I had a choice when it came to labor. It taught me so much & aided my decision in having a natural home birth which my son & I are now forever grateful for,” the actress tweeted.
“You are so welcome. Overjoyed to hear you had a positive birth experience & a beautiful son! :)#BOBB xo,” Ricki replied.
The Business of Being Born promoted natural home births, and showed the negative side of the American health care system which it viewed as providing over-medicalised childbirth.Evan, 25, kept fans updated throughout her pregnancy via Twitter, and earlier this month, with her due date nearing, wrote, “How can you be so excited to see someone you have never even met?”
Meanwhile, Evan’s husband, Billy Elliot actor Jamie Bell took to his official Twitter account on Monday to praise his wife.“Wow! What a day. Evan you are my warrior! You never cease to amaze. Thank you for birthing our son so naturally & peacefully. You did it!” The couple married in October 2012 after rekindling their relationship in 2011, five years after they first broke up.
The Ides of March actress kept busy during her pregnancy, with four films now in pre-production, but admitted that it wasn't always plane sailing.“It's been a whirlwind roller coaster, it's been amazing. But it's not easy,” she said of her pregnancy.
