Footballer Theo Walcott and his wife Melanie Slade have announced that they are expecting their first child." We are both very excited at such happy news just a few months after getting married," the couple said in a statement. "We are really looking forward to becoming parents."
Theo and Mel, who tied the knot in June in Italy, have been together for around ten years.
Theo, 24, was Arsenal's top scorer last season and he played a leading role in the England team during the 2014 Brazil World Cup qualifiers. His and Mel's baby could well arrive at the time of the competition which takes place in June 2014.
The childhood sweethearts tied the knot in a breathtaking ceremony at a magical medieval castle which was covered exclusively by HELLO!." It's fantastic to be able to finally call Melanie my wife. Now we're excited to see what the future holds for us," Theo told HELLO!."I don't think marriage will change our relationship – I hope not anyway, as it was already everything I could have wanted."
The talented striker loved the magical medieval castle setting for the wedding so much that he had an image of it tattooed on his arm in the run-up to the big day. Melanie, meanwhile, said the best part of the day was walking down the aisle to her groom.
"That moment when I saw Theo waiting for me at the altar was so overwhelming. Your emotions are all over the place – you're so excited and euphoric because you're marrying this person who you love so much, but there are some nerves there too because it's such a big step."
