Prince George is only eight months old but he is already having a fashion influence on babies of Britain.

After he starred in a new royal family picture with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, plus their dog Lupo last Sunday, George’s top has gotten parents in the mood to emulate his style. Personalised baby retailer My1stYears.com say they sold out of pale blue jumpers this week, which carry names across the chest in white lettering, and retail at £25 each.

The site shifted more than 1200 in the four days following the publication of the photo and bosses said there were a higher number of orders for ‘George’ than they would usually expect from customers.

Other orders included the terms ‘Our Little Prince’ and ‘My Mummy’s A Princess’, plus a similar item in pink has also seen a spike in sales with personalisation requests including ‘Princess Kate’ and ‘Prince George’s Future Wife’.

People want a similar jumper to the royal baby's

“Personalised baby gifts have grown tremendously in popularity over the last five years and this photo certainly gives it the Royal seal of approval,” Director Daniel Price said. “The demand took us by surprise. We weren’t expecting to see a shot with Prince George wearing a jumper with his name and our similar jumper sold out quickly. Luckily we were able to restock to fulfill orders, but it’s since sold out again.”He added that the Kate Middleton and Prince William got it right by opting for something unique for their tot as that’s what parents all over the country are desiring for their little one too. More common though is giving the items of clothing as gifts ahead of the trio’s forthcoming tour of Australia and New Zealand.

“It seems the young prince has inherited his mum’s knack as a trendsetter and anything he’s seen wearing is likely to fly off the shelves,” Daniel continued. “Customers like the fact they’re getting something individual for a child, they make a great gift and they’re also something you’re likely to keep once your child has grown out of. A lot of our customers are buying the items as gifts for a friend’s baby, in fact I’d say as many as 90% are buying presents and around 10% are parents buying for their own child.“The market for personalised gifts has the potential to be huge, and photos like that of Prince George can only help the sector grow.”
