The news that Jude Law is expecting his fifth child has come as a surprise to fans. However, friends have told the Daily Mirror that the mother of the baby, singer Catherine Harding, stage name Cat Cavelli, is delighted about the pregnancy. It certainly seems the case since her best friend model Laura Coleman excitedly tweeted her congratulations.
A brief romance blossomed between the 23-year-old songbird and Jude, 41, earlier this year during which she joined him on location in the Czech Republic for six weeks. She is thought to be about five months pregnant. It's understandable why Jude fell for Cat as she seems funny, free-spirited and a fellow creative mind. Talking about her music, she tweeted: “Everyone's so obsessed with making hits hits hits! I like to just make the music I love because when music is contrived it's so obvious!”
Her music career had recently taken off, with the singer being championed by Perez Hilton in June 2013. The US blogger recommended her song Cruel Melody in glowing terms. He said: "Take Demi Lovato add some British coolness, some Madonna Frozen, some Laura Mvula and a whole lot of drum n bass awesomeness and you have Cruel Melody by Cat Cavelli!"
Catherine is also clearly very taken with little ones as her Twitter account is filled with photos of children that she’s been babysitting. Despite not being a couple she and Jude are dedicated to raising their child together. The mum-to-be recently moved house to live in Hampstead near the Oscar-winning actor. Jude takes his responsibilities as a father very seriously. He has three children with former wife Sadie Frost – Rafferty, 18, Iris, who turns 14 this month, and 12-year-old Rudy and a five-year-old daughter Sophia, from his relationship with Samantha Burke.
The latest baby was announced in a statement released by the actor's representative on Thursday. "I can confirm that Jude Law and Catherine Harding are expecting a child together in the spring", read the statement which was released by Jude's representative. It continued: "Whilst they are no longer in a relationship, they are both wholeheartedly committed to raising their child. They consider this a private matter and other than this confirmation no statement will be made. I ask that you respect the privacy of all parties involved and their families."
