Rachel Bilson has been longing to start a family, and she finally has her wish with the arrival of a baby girl. The 33-year-old actress and her partner Hayden Christensen have welcomed a daughter named Briar Rose, US Weekly reports.
The name is a nod to the classic fairytale Sleeping Beauty; as the fairies shelter Princess Aurora from Maleficent, they name the little girl Briar Rose. It is also the name used in the original Grimm fairytale in 1812. News that Rachel and Hayden were expecting a baby together was revealed in May.
The Hart of Dixie actress has made no secret of her desire to start a family with her long-term boyfriend. Last year she told Cosmopolitan: "(Turning) 30 is a whole different thing; you can slow down and focus on family. Starting a family one day is definitely something I look forward to."
Love blossomed for her and Hayden on the set of Jumper in 2007 and the Canadian actor proposed a year later. The engagement was called off in 2010, but the couple reconciled after just a few months. Although the new parents have never married, they seem content with the status quo. Rachel describes Hayden, also 33, as her "perfect man, my support, just there for me no matter what. And vice versa".
Talking about their life together, the pretty actress said that she's a homebird, who loves to cook for him.
Rachel adds: "I'm happy… To have a partner is one of the greatest things. I've always been a fan of love! I love any movie or book or anything to do with love because I'm a romantic… "I'm an emotional person; I go with my heart before my head every time!"
