Novak Djokovic describes fatherhood as 'a beautiful feeling' after birth of baby Stefan

He won his tournament on Sunday, but Novak Djokovic was more interested in getting back to his wife and their baby boy than victory. The Serbian tennis ace admitted that he had used the previous 10 days of competition in London to catch up on some much needed sleep after Jelena gave birth to little Stefan in October.

Novako was in Britain from his base in Monaco to play the ATPWorld Tour final. In the post-match interview, the world number one revealed that he helps out as much as he can with the baby. "I'm very hands on," he said told BBC sport. "My wife told me what to expect. I've seen it before I came to Paris and London. "I'm glad during the stay in London for these 10 days I got a lot of sleep, because that will not be the case from now."

This has been a big year for the Djokovics who celebrated Novak's win at Wimbledon and also getting married in a beautiful Mediterranean ceremony that was featured exclusively in HELLO! Novak is thrilled at becoming a father for the first time. "It's the most beautiful feeling that I experience and my wife [has] experienced as well, holding a baby in your arms," he said. "That will be a lot of that without the racquet in the next couple of weeks for me."

Jelena: The high school sweetheart who is Novak's biggest fan The baby's birth was announced on the player's Facebook page. He wrote: "Stefan, our baby angel was born! I am so proud of my beautiful wife Jelena. Thank you so much for your love and support. We love you all!!!" Their 'angel' was named for Serbian royalty. Stefan Nemanja was a renowned Serbian prince who reigned from 1166 to 1196 and the name has been passed down to several generations. The new dad said there were no arguments over the name. "We are both very connected to Serbian roots and even though Stefan was born in Monaco, he is Serbian".
