Olympic swimmer Rebecca Adlington has exclusively revealed to HELLO! magazine that she is pregnant with her first child – and that she plans on a water birth. The gold medalist and her husband of just three months, Harry Needs, will become parents early next summer. "The due date is 4 June so, yes, we must have conceived on the first day of our honeymoon in Venice," Becky, 25, told HELLO! magazine. "But we're not the Beckhams – we won't be calling the baby Venice!" quipped her husband.
Olympic swimmer Becky Adlington has said she is considering a water birth
The couple admit they were extremely relieved to find out the baby was developing well at their first scan. "Thank goodness everything is okay," said Becky. "It was such a relief to see the heartbeat. I think you feel such a responsibility as the woman because you are the one looking after the baby. So Harry was more excited but I was more nervous." And, perhaps fittingly given both parents' aquatic skills, Becky and Harry are considering a water birth. "A water birth would be top of the list," the mum-to-be said. "A few friends have recommended it. I would like the birth to be as natural as possible, but you can't really plan it, can you?" Harry added: "It makes sense for two swimmers to have their baby in water." Read the full interview in this week's issue of HELLO! magazine out now.
