HELLO! exclusive: Rosie Marcel proudly introduces her baby girl

February 2, 2015

TV doctor Rosie Marcel introduces her baby girl in an exclusive shoot in HELLO!. The actress, who plays surgeon Jac Naylor in BBC1's Holby City, reveals her daughter's birth on 21 January 21 was not short of medical drama - with the music from Holby even playing in the background. "Beau's birth wasn't really like an episode of Holby City - not much!," says Rosie who had a team of ten looking after her. Due to a rare blood disorder she had a Caesarean birth under general anaesthetic but concedes she wasn't the model patient when she came round as she was in so much pain, and started hallucinating.

"Beau's hand and foot came out first and the surgeon had to turn her around to bring her out. It was pretty violent. Apparently I was very inappropriate and was shouting for drugs and screaming blue murder," she reveals. There were lighter moments though as she tells HELLO! the consultant "walked into the operating theatre with the music from Holby playing in his pocket". Rosie and her husband, gym owner Ben Stacey, were just two days away from starting fertility treatment following an earlier miscarriage when Rosie discovered that she was pregnant. "Getting pregnant naturally gave me back my faith in nature and in fate," she says.

Rosie plans to breastfeed Beau Marcel Stacey, who weighed in at 6lb 10oz, for as long as possible. If she's in public, she says she'll cover up, but woe betide anyone who tries to stop her doing what comes naturally. "We all have a right to breastfeed and if anyone asks me to leave a restaurant, they'll get the Jac Naylor side of me," says Rosie, whose character is known for her steely persona.
