Ashlee Simpson and her husband Evan Ross have announced that they are having a girl. The couple, who are expecting their first child together in the summer, have said they're excited for the new arrival.
"We're having a girl!" Ashlee told People magazine. "I like to know – I want to do the nursery."
Ashlee said she discovered that she was pregnant on Thanksgiving, which she calls a "cute, fun day".
Ashlee and Evan are expecting a baby sister for her six-year-old son Bronx
The baby girl will be Ashlee's first child with her husband Evan Ross. Ashlee is already a mother to six-year-old son, Bronx Mowgli, with her ex-husband Pete Wentz.
"I told him pretty early on," Ashlee said of her son. "And he wanted to have a sister, so he's really excited! He's got a little brother. Now he's going to have a little sister!"
Bronx is big brother to five-month-old Saint Laszlo – Pete's son with his girlfriend Meagan Camper.
The couple announced Ashlee's pregnancy in December
When asked what she was looking forward to most, the mom-to-be said: "I'm just excited for the new addition."
Ashlee married Hunger Games actor Evan Ross in a romantic Bohemian-style ceremony at the Conneticut estate of his mother, Motown Icon Diana Ross, in September. The couple announced that they were expecting their first child together just three months later.
Evan hinted at the possibility of starting a family with his 30-year-old wife in November.
"I would love to [have kids], as many as possible," he told E! News.
Evan's mother is the legendary Motown singer Diana Ross
After announcing her pregnancy, Ashlee and Evan filed a request to change their surnames to Ross-Naess. Evan is the youngest son of Diana Ross and Arne Naess Jr, and legally shares his father's surname.
Now as they prepare to welcome their new arrival it appears that Ashlee and Evan want to make sure they also share an official connection with the Supremes singer.
Diana is clearly supportive of her son's marriage as she told US Weekly!: "I want only love, happiness and joy for my son and his bride."
