Ryan Reynolds has previously denied that his baby daughter's name is Violet, but now another moniker has risen to the surface – and it certainly is very unusual for a little girl.
The actor and his wife Blake Lively are said to have named their firstborn James, according to E! News.
While the choice couldn't be a stretch more different to Violet, it wouldn't come as a complete surprise if Ryan and Blake decided to give their baby a traditional boy's name.
Ryan Reynolds previously joked that his and Blake Lively's daughter was called Shiloh
The former Gossip Girl star herself has a boy's name, while Ryan is becoming increasingly popular for a girl. The new parents would be following in the footsteps of another celebrity couple who recently welcomed their first child – Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis who named their daughter Wyatt.
Earlier this month Ryan, 38, denied that his daughter's name wasn't Violet. Speaking on The Late Show with David Letterman, the new dad joked: "It is a very pretty name, but that's Ben Affleck's daughter's name. We'd never steal another celebrity's baby's name, so we went with Shiloh."
Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds were previously thought to have named their baby Violet
Ryan went on to explain that he does tell people his child's name, but he prefers to do so on a private basis and not "in a media context".
The doting father, who maintains a low-profile with his beautiful wife Blake, also described how his baby had become his top priority: "I used to say to [Blake], 'I would take a bullet for you. I could never love anything as much as I love you. I would say that to my wife.
"And the second I looked in that baby's eyes, I knew in that exact moment that if we were ever under attack, I would use my wife as a human shield to protect that baby."
Blake Lively welcomed her baby daughter in late December
Speculation that Blake and Ryan had named their daughter Violet first arose a few days after the December arrival. Someone who claimed to work at the Westchester Medical Centre, where Blake gave birth, let slip the name on Twitter. The message from @kimbanksy read: "Congrats @blakelively #blakelively glad to have you and baby girl Violet in our care."
