Christina Aguilera has revealed why she chose to name her daughter Summer Rain. Speaking to People magazine the Beautiful singer explain that despite initially thinking of giving her little girl a traditional name, when the youngster arrived she opted more a more unusual moniker. "Summer is a time of spreading warmth and light," she told the publication. "While rain washes away [it] replenishes and brings new life to allow growth and new beginnings."

The 34-year-old went on to say that she thinks her six-month-old daughter's name reflects her spirit. "I wanted her name to be filled with inspiration, love and joy," she said. "And that's exactly what she brings to all who encounter her. Her beauty and sunshine exude from within."

Christina and her film producer fiancé Matt Rutler became parents to Summer Rain on 17 August 2014. The youngster was delivered by caesarean section at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in LA, where other celebrity mums including Kim Kardashian and Jessica Simpson have delivered. Since welcoming Summer Rain, New-York born Christina has opened up about how "blessed" to feels to have her. "I have a chill baby, she's just so calm and so easy to make laugh and smile, she's just a breeze, thank God," she told Extra. "She's just so beautiful, these big blue eyes, she's just so gorg… very happy and feel very blessed having Summer Rain in my life."

Christina also said that the new arrival also proved a hit with her seven-year-old son Max from her marriage to Jordan Bratman. "He's just so endearing and sweet to her," she said. "He's in school, he's seven, there's a little age gap. But it's perfect though, because then they don't fight over toys. He's the big helper and the big teacher, so he's awesome. "He's just so loving and sweet," she added. "I'm like, 'How old are you?' He's like a grandma to her, he's just like, 'I'll teach you everything.'"
