Mark Cavendish and wife Peta announce they are expecting their second child

April 24, 2015

Congratulations to Mark Cavendish and his wife Peta, who have announced that they are expecting their second child together. The model announced the happy news on Twitter on Wednesday, and revealed that she is already over halfway through her pregnancy.

"Think I might have left it too late to start legs, bums & tums! #anothercavendish #iamabarrel", she tweeted, along with a picture showing off her growing baby bump.

Peta's cyclist husband Mark also shared the good news on his own account, writing: "We're taking over… #proud".

After being inundated with congratulatory messages, Peta thanked followers for their support.

"Thanks for all the lovely messages my lovelies. Wasn't straight forward from the start so kept it 'mum' so to speak, but over half way now."

The couple reportedly kept the news quiet due to possible problems following Peta's cervical cancer scare in 2014. A source told The Sun: "Mark and Peta are delighted to finally share the news!"

Mark and Peta already have a three-year-old daughter, Delilah Grace, while Peta also has a son called Finnbar from a previous relationship. The proud mum often posts photos with her children on social media, and showed that her son is taking after his cyclist step-dad in a picture posted to Instagram on Thursday.

"I love these 2 males of the species #offontheirbikes," she captioned the photo of the pair ready to go on a bike ride.

The mum-to-be appears keen to stay healthy throughout her pregnancy and has also shared snaps of some of her meals with her 14,300 followers.

Meanwhile Mark is currently training for the upcoming Tour De France in Italy. The 29-year-old will be hoping to continue his cycling success after an impressive 11 wins in 2014.
