Joseph Gordon-Levitt welcomes baby boy with wife Tasha McCauley

August 19, 2015

Joseph Gordon-Levitt has welcomed his first child with his wife Tasha McCauley. The couple, who tied the knot in a secret ceremony in December, reportedly welcomed a baby boy at the weekend.

An insider told Us Weekly that "everyone is happy and healthy", however no further details are known about Joseph's new arrival. It is not surprising that the 500 Days of Summer actor has kept news of the pregnancy quiet – Joseph and Tasha also managed to keep their wedding on 20 December a secret for almost two weeks before it was revealed on New Year's Eve.

Joseph and Tasha first started dating in 2013 after being introduced through mutual friends. New mum Tasha is a tech entrepreneur who is the co-founder and CEO of robotics company Fellow Robots.

The 34-year-old explained why he didn't like to talk about his personal life in an interview with Howard Stern on his SiriusXM radio show in September 2013, telling the host: "I have a girlfriend but I tend not to really like to talk about it in public. The girl that I'm with, she really doesn't want to be a part of that."

Joseph added that he didn't want his personal life to affect the way audiences perceive him in his acting roles.

"I get up in movies and I play other people, so when the audience is watching me in movies, I don't want them thinking about me and who I'm dating, and blah blah blah," he said. "I want them to see the character, the story that I'm telling, you know."

Joseph is not the only star to tie the knot and welcome a baby in secret – his former co-star Zooey Deschanel secretly married producer Jacob Pechenik in July shortly before they welcomed a baby girl.
