There's a new little boy in the New Girl family. Actor Max Greenfield, who plays Schmidt on the popular show, has welcomed a son with his wife Tess Sanchez.

The couple confirmed the happy news to E! on Monday and also revealed their second child's name – Ozzie James, who weighed in at 6 lbs., 12 oz. A source added that the family are "doing great".

Max, 34, and his casting director wife Tess married in 2008. They are also parents to a daughter Lily, who is five and a half years old.

Speaking previously about his little girl, Max said: "She knows that I'm on a TV show – she'll be like, 'Daddy you play Schmidt'."

"There's a big part of me that's very proud of it and goes 'Daddy's really happy,' but another part that's like, 'Just stay away from that as long as you can,'" the star added during an appearance on Good Morning America. "But she seems unfazed by it."

Max and Tess' son isn't the only addition to the New Girl family. Protagonist Zooey Deschanel, who plays Jess on the show, recently became a first time mum after giving birth to a baby girl in July.

Max's co-star Zooey Deschanel also recently welcomed her baby, a daughter, last month

A rep for the actress confirmed to the New York Post's Page Six that Zooey and her husband Jacob Pechenik welcomed "a beautiful healthy baby girl". Their daughter was reportedly born in Austin, Texas where movie producer Jacob is based.

It came after Zooey, 35, and her husband tied the knot in secret shortly before the birth.

The couple met on the set of film Rock the Kasbah, which Jacob was producing. They made their red carpet debut at the 2014 Emmy Awards, confirming speculation that they were dating just weeks after Zooey split from screenwriter Jamie Linden.
