Una Foden teaches baby Tadhg how to say 'mamma'

October 16, 2015

Despite all her efforts, Una Foden's eight-month-old son prefers to say "dada" and hasn't quite grasped the word "mamma" yet. The Saturdays singer shared an adorable video on Facebook of her baby boy Tadhg learning how to speak.

"Mamma," Una is heard saying in the background. "Come on."

"Dada," says the little boy, sweetly smiling.

"Oh no not dada again," says a determined Una. "What about mamma?"

Una Foden welcomed baby Tadhg in February

The Not Giving Up singer captioned the sweet clip: "He loves 'dada' @ben_foden no matter how hard I try tell him 'mamma'."

The day before Una, 34, shared another video of her son learning how to speak. "I'm convinced it's mama anyway! X" wrote the doting mum, alongside a video of Tadhg making noises.

Una and her rugby player husband Ben Foden welcomed their second child in February. The couple are already parents to three-year-old daughter Aoife Belle.

Shortly after the arrival of their little boy, Una, 34, and Ben, 30, exclusively introduced their son to HELLO! and explained their reasoning behind choosing a traditional Irish name like Tadhg – pronounced Tai-g.

"We were going over names for ages and I'd suggested Ty, which I really liked, when Una said, 'There's an Irish name that's very similar," Ben said. "As soon as she said it, I thought, 'That’s cool.' With Una being Irish and Aoife having a traditional Irish name, it seemed fitting."

His Irish wife added: "Tadhg is quite common in Ireland so when people go on about how hard it is to match the pronunciation with the spelling, I say 'Just think, every time you say it, you're learning a new language and culture because you're speaking a bit of Gaelic.'"

Ben, who was in the delivery room, said that the birth of his son was "an incredible experience"

Ben also revealed that he cut the umbilical cord immediately after the baby was born.

"The second he was out, I abandoned poor Una and all my focus switched to Tadhg," Ben said. "I did my own check on him and cut the cord, as I had done with Aoife. Again, that was an incredible experience. I held him for a while, then lifted him onto Una for that amazing skin-to-skin contact."
