Eddie Redmayne has admitted to being intimidated by "pretty much every element" of parenthood. The Oscar-winner, who is expecting his first child with wife Hannah Bagshawe in June, opened up about his fears on the red carpet at the SAG Awards on Saturday.

Joined by his wife of 14 months, who concealed her baby bump in a loose-fitting sequin gown, Eddie told E! News: "We started looking at the logistics and all the lists of things you're meant to get before you go into hospital and that's a long list of stuff right there."

When asked which aspect of becoming a father felt most "alien" to him, the 34-year-old replied: "Do you know what? Pretty much every element of it."

He continued: "We have this dream of wooden toys and all that. Everyone's like, 'You always start like that and you end up with iPhones."

It was revealed in December that Eddie and Hannah were expecting their first child together, one year after their winter wedding at Babington House in December 2014.

The couple confirmed their happy news on the red carpet at the Golden Globes in January, where they were gifted with a sweet babygro by red carpet host Ryan Seacrest.

Despite being a little nervous about the new addition to their family, Eddie and Hannah are both said to be "extremely excited" about becoming parents. Sources told The Sun in December that the couple had shared the good news with close friends and family, and that they don't want to find out the sex of the baby.

Hannah's pregnancy is not the only possible reason Eddie will have to celebrate in the coming months; the Danish Girl star has been nominated for the Best Actor in a Leading Role award at the BAFTAs and Oscars for the second year in a row – with the talented star set to go head-to-head with Leonardo DiCaprio for the coveted gongs.
