Giovanna Fletcher has taken to Instagram to share her experience of being body shamed by a stranger, just days after welcoming her son Buddy Bob. The new mum defiantly shared a photo showing her post-pregnancy body and said she is "thankful" to her bump for bringing her "even more love and light than I knew possible".

HELLO! Online blogger Giovanna told her fans: "A few days ago I had a near stranger point at my stomach, laugh and say 'Oh look, Mummy's still got her tummy'. This was eleven days after giving birth. I was so shocked I laughed. But the words have stuck with me. Obviously. It wasn't left there either as there was another comment about my face 'slimming down'."

Giovanna has defended her post-pregnancy figure

Giovanna added that she had been "baffled" as to why the stranger felt the need to comment on her bump, before going on to share her personal thoughts about her body and why new mums should love their post-pregnancy figures.

"Yes, I still have a bump. But that bump kept my little baby boy safe for a whole nine months," Giovanna wrote. "That bump has filled my world with even more love and light than I knew possible. That bump is a miracle worker… My bump will slowly go over time, but I'll never stop being thankful to it and my body for everything it's given me."

Giovanna and Tom Fletcher welcomed their second son Buddy Bob in February

Giovanna was inundated with supportive comments within just a couple of hours of posting the photo, with many relaying their own similar experiences as well as telling her not to take the comments to heart.

The 31-year-old welcomed her second son with McFly singer Tom Fletcher in February. The couple have been keeping fans updated with how they are adapting to their new life as a family of four on social media, and teased that they may be sharing a glimpse at their newborn son in a video called Live from the Delivery Room on Monday.

However it was soon revealed that the couple had some other news to share – the fact that Tom has written a children's Christmas book, which will be released later this year.
