Congratulations to Verity Rushworth who has announced she is pregnant with her first child. The 30-year-old star, best known for playing Donna Windsor in Emmerdale until 2014, is expecting a baby with her husband Dominic Shaw, with the new arrival due in the summer.Taking to Twitter on Monday to share the happy news, the actress told her 42,000 followers: "Yey! @dominicmshaw and I are expecting our first baby this summer. So excited!!" She also shared a slightly blurry photo of herself and Dominic, who she married in 2013, their excitement evident as they pose for the snap.

Not long afterwards, the couple shared a second, tongue-in-cheek photo, referencing Verity's pregnancy. The actress can be seen pretending to eat two large beef burgers, which a cartoon caption bubble alongside that reads 'Eating for two'. Dominic, meanwhile, is reaching for a bottle of beer, with the punchline, 'Drinking for two'.The news might come as a surprise to fans, given that Verity was scheduled to tour the UK in the upcoming play Breakfast At Tiffany's, from May until June this year. The actress had been cast as lead Holly Golightly in the energetic show, and has had to step down from the show after discovering she is pregnant.

She is being replaced by Emily Atack, who will share the role with Pixie Lott.
