Jamie and Jools Oliver put a great deal of thought into choosing the perfect name for their newborn son. The couple waited two weeks before confirming that they had decided upon the moniker 'River' for their little boy – but what inspired their choice?
'River' is particular significant for celebrity chef Jamie. He was first noticed by the BBC while working as a sous chef in the acclaimed River Café in Fulham back in 1997. He made an unscripted appearance in a documentary about the Italian restaurant, which led to him being given his own BBC show, The Naked Chef, two years later.
Jamie and Jools Oliver welcomed son River on 8 August
Fast forward 17 years, and Jamie is now one of the biggest names in the culinary world; perhaps River's name is a nod to the place where it all began.
Jamie and Jools are known for picking unique names for their children. The couple are also parents to Poppy Honey, 14, Daisy Boo, 12, Petal Blossom, six, and five-year-old Buddy Bear.
The proud parents have shared a number of sweet snapshots on Instagram
Ever since the arrival of River Rocket on 8 August, both Jamie and Jools have shared a number of photos of the new arrival, giving fans a peek inside their happy home life as the family enjoys precious time together.
When River was just five-days-old, Jamie melted hearts when he hacked into Jools' Instagram account to pay a loving tribute to his wife. The 41-year-old shared a snapshot of his wife asleep curled up on the sofa next to her newborn son, who is lying in a moses basket.
Jamie recently hacked Jools' account to share this photo of mother and son
