"I had an idea something was different about my body," Amy told HELLO! "I think as an ex-athlete I am highly tuned to my body, so I took a test in the daytime, which was positive, then spent the rest of the day thinking how I'd tell Craig. In the end I wrote a little card and wrapped up the test in a box knowing he would just think it was an anniversary gift! I think it was a pretty big surprise present for him!"

Amy, 34, also spoke about how she thought she might have been having twins as they run in her family, revealing that she was anxious to find out whether she was expecting one or two babies. "We were super excited," she explained. "I was super anxious to find out if there was one or two babies in my belly! My mother is a twin and I am a twin and so I was wanting to find out as soon as possible if there was one or two. Craig wanted two; I only wanted one in there.

"I remember having sweaty palms and couldn't wait to see the first image on the scan machine. The baby was all curled up in a tiny ball and so I had to go and raid the chocolate machine to get some sugar in me and go for a walk around the car park to wake it up so they could check it! It was such a magical moment, filled with excitement yet a little bit of nervousness at how much life will be changing too! It's already extremely active and for the last month has already been kicking, punching and moving almost nonstop!"

Amy is keeping the baby's gender a surprise

The star athlete has decided to keep the baby's gender a secret until the birth. She said: "So long as it's healthy that it all that matters, I love a surprise and so can't wait to find out on its birthday what it will be! Tricky just having to think up boys and girls names now! It's due in March. We are slowly getting the nursery ready, I'm painting it in neutral colours."
