Huge congratulations to Ellen Pompeo and her husband Chris Ivery! The couple have welcomed their third child together, a son named Eli Christopher, it has been announced. On Thursday, the Grey's Anatomy actress took to her Instagram to share a photo of their new baby boy cuddling with her husband.

"Eli Christopher Chris Ivery just fell a notch.. I've got a new guy," the 47-year-old star gushed in the caption. Little Eli joins sisters Stella, seven and Sienna, two. Although it hasn't been confirmed when their new bundle of joy arrived into the world, Ellen and Chris were seen during a low-key hike with their little tot on December 28 in Los Angeles.

The American actress previously kept Sienna's birth a secret for two months in order to protect the privacy of her surrogate. Speaking to Australia's TV Week at the time, Ellen said: "It's important to protect the privacy of the surrogate, but don't forget, I am the same girl who had the mayor of New York City marry me and it didn't get out for five days. I'm good at that!"

Meanwhile, becoming a parent has been particularly poignant for Ellen as she lost her own mother when she was just four years old. She added: "I try my absolute hardest every minute of the day to be the best mother I can to those children. And me not having a mother growing up, being a mother is more significant than I can put into words."

Ellen and Chris, who met in 2003 and then exchanged vows in 2007, welcomed their first child Stella in 2009 before the arrival of Sienna five years later.
