I got a first text, and I was like, 'Why is this person saying congratulations?' Then I get a second text from one of my students at Texas Southern, and I was like, 'What are you talking about?' He was like, 'Go to the web.' I didn't know myself." However, he confirmed that he gave her a call after finding out the news and they had a "wonderful" conversation. He also praised his famous daughter on her decision to share the news with her fans on Instagram. "That was very smart that she did it rather than someone else, the media, doing it," he said proudly.
