Alex Jones has admitted she feared she would be replaced during her maternity leave on The One Show - much like the plot of the BBC drama, The Replacement. Chatting about the show to You magazine, Alex admitted: "I'd be lying to say I didn’t feel any paranoid when I first left the show but then you get over it because you realise there is nothing you can do about it."

Alex opened up about feeling insecure about her job

The new mum, who welcomed her baby son Teddy in January, continued to explain the mixed feelings she felt towards her stand-ins, Angela Scanlon and Michelle Ackerley: "At the same time, you hope they're doing a good job because you want a show to come back to – it's a balance," she said. "But anyone who says there's no paranoia is lying. It's healthy, I think - it shows you respect the job and you care about it. I'm more ambitious than I appear. If you love your job, you're always worried someone is going to take it away from you. TV can be more fickle than other industries."

Alex and her husband Charlie Thomson welcomed baby Teddy in January

The star spoke to The One Show shortly after giving birth. "It's the most wonderful feeling," she told viewers. "He was 7lbs 11oz – a lovely weight. It was all very straightforward. Charlie was with me and mum and dad were in the waiting room." She added: "The last four days have been heaven. We're in this bubble the three of us. It's just the best time. We're a bit behind on the whole name thing because we didn't know if we were having a boy or a girl. We thought, 'When we see him we'll know what he looks like', but actually it's really hard."
