Simon Cowell has credited parenthood with making him a happier, more relaxed person – and he is convinced it will also transform the life of close friend Cheryl. The pair worked together on The X Factor for three years, and now Simon has opened up about the new mum, revealing that she is "ecstatic" since welcoming her first child with Liam Payne. The music mogul told the Mirror that he is yet to meet Cheryl's baby boy, but said: "Cheryl seems in a good place. Having gone through it myself it is quite nerve-racking, but this is going to be the making of her. From people I know who have been with her, apparently she's ecstatic so I'm happy for her." He added with a chuckle: "I haven't had the call yet, but I would be godfather if asked."

Simon is a proud father to three-year-old son Eric, and he said he hopes that the two little boys can have some playdates together. "If I get an invite [to Cheryl's house] I would go round. Or she can come down to the show with him and they can make friends with Eric," he said. The Britain's Got Talent judge also shared his hopes that he will work with Cheryl again in the near future. "We still have a really good relationship and we'll probably end up working together again soon," he admitted.

"I have one or two ideas in mind. It's just when I get the chance to talk to her properly. I mean obviously this baby is going to be the priority in her life now, but once she's settled she's going to want to be working again, and I enjoy working with Cheryl."
