Lucy Pargeter gave birth to healthy twin girls last week, a spokesperson for Emmerdale has confirmed. The actress, who plays Chas Dingle in the popular soap, welcomed her two baby daughters with her partner, Rudi Coleano. The pair already share an 11-year-old daughter, Lola.
"Lucy Pargeter and Rudi Coleano are delighted to announce the birth of their twin girls who were born on Thursday, April 13," the spokesperson said. "All are happy and healthy and Lola is delighted to have finally become a big sister." The star will temporarily leave the soap while on maternity leave, and revealed how her character's absence would be explained on the show. "Liv's mum has had an accident in Ireland where she lives and Chas sees herself as Liv's acting mother because Aaron is in prison still," she told the Mirror. "She decides to take Liv over to Ireland to see her mum. It'll be me gone for a while, but not too long, depending. I'll be back very soon. Fictionally, I'm in Ireland, having a lovely summer."

The mum-of-three thanked fans for their support after it was announced that she was expecting twins back in November. She tweeted: "We are overwhelmed with your lovely messages and over the moon to be having twins. Thank you all so so much." The actress previously revealed that she took three months off from the soap after giving birth to her first daughter, Lola. She told the Mirror: "As soon as I told the bosses at Emmerdale I was pregnant they asked me how long I would want on maternity leave. But I just wanted three months and then straight back. I couldn't afford to have too long off work – I have got two mortgages and a car. Working is a big part of me and my life and I wasn't happy to stay at home – I'm a workaholic."
