Steven Gerrard surprised his fans this weekend by announcing the birth of his fourth child with his wife Alex. The happy couple are already parents to three girls and now the famous pair have welcomed their first little boy! Liverpool footballer Steven posted a picture on his Instagram page, which read: “It’s a boy! Lio George Gerrard 29.04.17”. Beside the note was a caption by Steven saying: “Lio George Gerrard was born this morning at 4.55 am. Both are doing great. Our family is complete,” followed by a heart emoji.
Steven’s 5.9 million followers were over the moon for him and celebratory messages poured in for the star. One fan wrote: “Congratulations on the birth of your son. It’s a special moment.” Another commented: “One of the greatest gifts in life. Congratulations my friend.” Many of Steven’s fans posted comments suggesting little Lio might follow in his famous dad’s footsteps on the pitch. One wrote: “Congrats captain fantastic!! Future captain is here,” while a second said, “Congrats Gerrard!!! Can't wait to see Lio Gerrard on the pitch in a couple of years’ time!”

Steven, 36 and Alex, 34, are now the proud parents of four children. Their daughters are Lilly-Ella, 13, Lexie, 10 and Lourdes, five. The couple announced their baby news back in October, with model Alex taking to Twitter to share their happy news. At the time, she tweeted: "We are all very excited for our new baby to arrive next year!! Number 4," alongside several baby emoticons. She later thanked fans for their well wishes, saying: "Thank you to everyone for all your lovely messages!" Alex also shared a sweet black and white picture of her daughters looking at an ultrasound photo of their new sibling.
Alex has previously spoken to HELLO! about the possibility of having a boy. She revealed: "I know Steven has said before he would like one but the chances of us having one is slim with having three girls. He laughs and says he can't risk it - it's going to cost him a fortune in weddings if we have another girl!" Steven will not doubt be thrilled his wish came true and that he only has three weddings to pay for in the future. The Gerrards relocated to Los Angeles in May 2015 after the football star landed a contract at LA Galaxy, David Beckham's former club. In November, Steven announced his retirement from professional football.
