Serena Williams has asked for suggestions on how to help her three-month-old daughter, Alexis Olympia, who is suffering from teething. The new mum posted a snap of her baby girl on Twitter while reaching out to her followers for help, writing: "Teething- aka the devil - is so hard. Poor Alexis Olympia has been so uncomfortable. She cried so much (she never cries) I had to hold her until she fell asleep. I've tried amber beads... cold towels.... chew on mummy's fingers.... homeopathic water (lol on that one)."

She added: "Nothing is working. It's breaking my heart. I almost need my mum to come and hold me to sleep cause I'm so stressed. Help? Anyone?" Her fans were quick to reach out to her, with one writing: "This is every single new parent. We’ve all been there. It is so tough and it is completely okay to want your mum and to want sleep and to want to cry for a hundred years," while another added: "Rubbing her gums helps with the pain of teething. Also try some harder foods, like a chilled carrot because that will also help ease the pain."

Serena shared a snap of her daughter teething

Serena welcomed Alexis with her husband, Alexis Ohanian, back in September. Shortly after giving birth, the tennis champion penned an open letter to her mum about the challenges of motherhood, writing: "You are one of the strongest women I know. I was looking at my daughter (OMG, yes, I have a daughter) and she has my arms and legs! My exact same strong, muscular, powerful, sensational arms and body. I don't know how I would react if she has to go through what I've gone through since I was a 15-year-old and even to this day… Thank you for being the role model I needed to endure all the hardships that I now regard as a challenges - ones that I enjoy. I hope to teach my baby Alexis Olympia the same, and have the same fortitude you have had."
