Katie Piper has shared a sweet snapshot of her baby daughter Penelope, in celebration of the little girl's four week birthday. The image shows Katie proudly cradling her tiny baby in her arms, with the newborn snugly wrapped up in a cosy white blanket. Alongside the Instagram image, she wrote: "Little P is 1 month old today! Where has the time gone?" Penelope is Katie's second child with husband Richard Sutton; the couple are also parents to three-year-old daughter Belle.
Katie and Richard welcomed little Penelope on 13 December. The TV star confirmed the happy news on her Instagram account, along with a photo showing her baby's tiny hand. Katie, 34, simply wrote: "We've been blessed with the safe arrival of a baby girl. Our family is now complete." In an exclusive statement to HELLO! Online, Katie added: "I'm so happy and busy feeding, cuddling - and managing a very enthusiastic Belle!"
A short time later, Katie introduced Penelope to the world in an exclusive interview and photoshoot with HELLO!. The 34-year-old, who survived an acid attack that left her permanently scarred, had once feared motherhood was a blessing she would never experience, having taken medication during her recovery that can affect fertility. "There was a time when I’d resigned myself to never having a family of my own," she told the magazine. "With Penelope, we were trying for over a year and a half."
Katie also spoke about Penelope's chosen name. "It was a name we’d had in mind for Belle and I've always liked it," she shared. "We started referring to her as Penelope, even telling Belle because we figured it made the experience all the more real for her. We were amazed when she didn't let the cat out of the bag because she's such a chatterbox." The infant's middle name, Diane, is after Katie's mum, who has been Katie's rock through her darkest times and who has herself been battling cancer.
