Actress Eva Longoria Baston has shared new photos of her new baby son as she opened up about her joy at becoming a mother. The Desperate Housewives star gave birth to Santiago Enrique - her first child with Mexican businessman husband José "Pepe" Bastón - on 19 June in Los Angeles. "It’s indescribable!" Eva, 43, told HELLO! in August 2018. "It's funny because everyone tells you: 'It's going to be amazing, wait!' And then it happens and you understand what everyone's talking about. But you can't really understand it until you experience it."

"I've been really lucky," she added. "He was born healthy, and I had a good pregnancy, an amazing husband and a great support system, my family and my friends, so everything was pretty smooth for me. It's been a really great journey." When asked whether she knew she would be a mother one day, she replied: "No, I think children are a product of love and so I finally met the person I wanted to do that with. When Pepe and I met we didn't really talk about children; we just fell in love, so it was never this topic that was discussed. We said: 'If it happens, it happens. If God blesses us, then that's great.' And that's what happened. First, we fell madly in love and then came this product of that love."

Describing how she felt the first time she held her precious baby boy, Eva said: "Well, it's magical. You're in the hospital, you're a little loopy, a little tired from labour. There are a lot of people in the room, doctors and nurses, and then it's almost like all the noise goes away. It's just he and I. He was born so alert! It was like he said, 'Hey! I know you!' It’s as if I knew him my whole life." She continued: "It's funny but Pepe says I've been a mum to many in my life. Doing it for my own son is obviously different, but I’m a great multi-tasker and very focused. I've approached motherhood like I approach everything else: be prepared, whether it's medically, spiritually… I want to know everything that I can do to give him the best life possible."

Eva went on to reveal how much her lifestyle has changed. "Instead of wine bottles, it’s baby bottles, too," the star revealed. "We need a diaper bag that is refrigerated for both the wine bottle and the baby bottles. [Laughs] Pepe's been through this before – the youngest is 14 – so it’s a new era. For me, it's like the beginning, so it’s beautiful for us to experience this together." Quizzed about whether she was ready to expand her family, she said: Oh, God! I don't know who would think of another one after just coming out of labour. Like who would do this again? This was so hard and painful! [Laughs] No, right now we’re just enjoying this blessing. Can't get greedy when it comes to your blessings."

The actress isn't looking forward to leaving her son when she goes back to work

The star also admitted that she has been feeling anxious about going back to work in a few weeks to direct the drama Grand Hotel. "My son will be two and a half months old and I can't even think about it right now," she explained. "I enjoy our routine and our days together. People tell me: 'Get ready to be tired,' but I'm not. I actually miss him when he's sleeping, so I’m like: 'Ugh. Hurry up and wake up, so I can play with you and stare at you and kiss you and cuddle you, bite, hug you!' So the thought of going back to work… I get anxiety thinking about it. I can be with him on set but it's not the same. It's funny, people used to say: 'How do you do it all?' And I'd say: 'I don't have children.' I could direct, I could go to Paris, go do an endorsement in China. Now everything is different because he’s here but different in the best way possible."

Finally when asked about how she has been keeping in shape, Eva revealed: "I can't wait to get back to working out. To be almost a year without exercise or serious exercise is very hard. I'm a runner and I haven't been able to run in so long. So I'm looking forward to that, but I'm not in any rush. I'm really enjoying this moment, this postpartum moment of just feeling him and supporting him."
