Alex Jones was one of the guests on Friday's episode of Would I Lie To You?, where she surprised her fellow contestants with a shocking tale from a recent day out with her husband Charlie Thomson and their son Teddy – which turned out to be true! The One Show host revealed that while they were visiting London Zoo, her bag was hijacked by a one-armed monkey. Alex recalled the trip to opposing team members, including team captain Lee Mack, Strictly's Stacey Dooley and comedian Henning Wehn, and said that it had occurred in the rainforest section, where all the animals were roaming. "The monkey's name was Bandit, as in one arm," she said, and when asked what breed it was by Lee, she joked: "I'm not David Attenborough!"

Retelling the series of events, Alex said: "I am pushing the pram, and said monkey jumped from the tree, and landed on the pram. My maternal instinct obviously kicked in, and I took Ted from the pram, and then the monkey got hold of the pram, and got hold of the bag which was attached to the pram." Host Rob Bryon was just as unconvinced, and asked Alex whether she was sure that it wasn’t a squirrel. Henning said to Alex: "There is not a single element of that story that sounds believable," while Stacey also thought it was a "massive lie." When Alex revealed that it was true, Stacey in particular couldn’t believe it, and exclaimed: "Oh my lord!"

Alex and Charlie Thomson are expecting their second child
This year is going to be exciting for Alex and her family. Last year, she announced that Teddy is set to become a big brother during an episode of The One Show in December. She said: "So we've got a little bit of news – Charlie and I are expecting another little baby in the new year, a little brother or sister for little Teddy… I didn't know when to tell everybody and when to share the news, I was a bit nervous about it and I didn't want to do it too soon." She continued: "But as every mum will know, you get to a certain point and you just pop! I'll show you… which is what's happened. Look – this weekend, there it is, there's no hiding it any more."

Alex tends to keep her family life away from the spotlight, but occasionally shares photos of her little boy on social media, although she keeps his face hidden from view to protect his privacy. Last week, the 41-year-old confessed that she felt like the "worst parent" after dropping off her son at nursery. Taking to Twitter, she wrote: "First week of nursery and drop off is brutal!!! TGIF!!!" After one fan replied, "We feel like the worst parents in the world this week!!" Alex responded: "Us too!"
