Charlize Theron is notoriously private where it comes to her personal life, so when she shared a selection of never-before-seen photos of her two adorable daughters, Jackson, eight, and August, five, her fans understandably loved them.

The 45-year-old star posted a series of cute snapshots of the adopted youngsters - who are very rarely seen - on Instagram to celebrate National Daughters Day, and the children couldn't have looked happier.

"My heart belongs to these two beautiful powerhouses. I will never be the same. Happy #NationalDaughtersDay" she captioned the photos.

Her celebrity friends were quick to tell her how cute the family album was with January Jones commenting: "Awww three beauties. You’re so lucky babe," and Helena Christensen writing: "Such beautiful girls."

Charlize adopted both her children and has been raising them single-handedly.

She recently revealed on Diane Von Furstenberg's podcast, InCharge with DVF, that her children had wondered why she doesn't have a boyfriend.

Charlize adopted her two children

Charlize insisted: "This idea that somehow women fail when they're not in relationships or that somehow it's their fault, that they must be incredibly difficult – that's why no man wants to touch them."

She continued: "Those are all constructs that we need to change."

Charlize has also shared details of Jackson's gender too, revealing he was born a boy, but told her five years ago that she is a girl.

"Yes, I thought she was a boy, too," the Atomic Blonde star told The Daily Mail.

"Until she looked at me when she was three-years-old and said, 'I am not a boy!'

Charlize is raising them by herself

"So there you go. I have two beautiful daughters who, just like any parent, I want to protect and I want to see thrive.

"They were born who they are and exactly where in the world both of them get to find themselves as they grow up, and who they want to be, is not for me to decide."

She adores being a mum

She added: "My job as a parent is to celebrate them and to love them and to make sure that they have everything they need in order to be what they want to be, and I will do everything in my power for my kids to have that right and to be protected within that."
