Katherine Jenkins has taken steps to ensure her children's privacy over the years. So her fans were over the moon when the star took to Instagram this week with a very rare photo of her eldest child.

The 40-year-old singer posted a beautiful snapshot showing her cuddling her daughter Aaliyah in the garden, with the five-year-old dressed in a pretty white summer dress. A pink flower covers the little girl's face.

"Happy 5th Birthday to the girl of my dreams. Five, fabulous and soooo much fun! Love you more than you'll ever know x," Katherine captioned the image.

Katherine shares two children with her husband, Andrew Levitas. The couple, who were married at Hampton Court in September 2014, are also parents to son Xander, who turned two in April.
Katherine shared a beautiful birthday photo of daughter Aaliyah
Earlier this week, Katherine revealed her daughter's very special birthday gift. She shared a snapshot showing two tiny rabbits cuddled up together on a starry grey blanket.

She told fans: "Introducing two little additions to our family… Meet Duchess & Potter. Aaliyah turns 5 tomorrow and she wanted one for her birthday but of course when we saw these two cuties who are sisters we couldn't split them up!
The family welcomed two new additions this week
"The children named their own and Xander's first choice for his doe was 'Norman'! Thankfully he settled on Potter, named after Harry!"

In 2018, Katherine spoke candidly about her experience of motherhood during an appearance on The Jonathan Ross Show, and ruled out expanding her family further.
Katherine is also a mum to son Xander
"I think two is quite full-on," she said. "I love it, having kids has been the best thing that has ever happened to me, obviously apart from my husband of course, but I think having one of each has secured that I don't think we need to go for a third.

The singer then revealed that she did not want to stop working after having children, because she wanted to be an inspiration.

She said: "I absolutely love what I do. Having the children, I thought, having been on tour for such a long time, that I was going to stop and take some time out.
"But having a daughter, I wanted to inspire her by showing her that I am passionate and dedicated to something so it didn't really seem that I wanted to take that much time off because I think I would really miss it."
