Once you've nailed the location, date and guest list, it's time to decide upon your theme

What is needed to plan a baby shower?

Three of the first things you need to plan a baby shower are a time and date, a location to host it, and a guest list. From there, you can start thinking about the theme for your baby shower, and design or order invitations to suit.

Once your theme has been secured and invitations have been sent, you can start thinking about finding any decorations you need, planning refreshments and thinking of baby shower cake ideas to match.

What is a normal budget for a baby shower?

A 2019 survey by American Express found that the average cost of a baby shower in the UK was £91, with guests spending an average of £38 each on gifts. However, this cost will no doubt have increased over the past few years due to inflation. The budget will also depend on whether you book a private venue to host your celebration or have a more low-key baby shower at home, along with the number of guests you invite and what you have planned in terms of catering.
