Princess Charlotte comes from a very sporty line of royal ladies: her mother, the Princess of Wales, played hockey at university and adores tennis, while her late great grandmother Queen Elizabeth was a keen horsewoman.
Seven-year-old Charlotte also takes after her grandmother, the late Princess Diana, who had a passion for swimming, diving and dancing, in particular ballet.
Diana was tutored at home until she was nine years old and was then sent to boarding school – first Riddlesworth Hall in Norfolk and later West Heath Public School in Kent. While she did not excel academically, failing her O-Levels, she excelled at sport. Charlotte is also a sporty child, with an interest in several different disciplines.
