Royal fans were delighted after King Charles and his eldest son, the Prince of Wales, shared a touching new photograph together in honour of the late Queen Elizabeth II.
The duo’s rare father-son moment was shared to mark the Queen's Green Canopy project, a tree-planting initiative launched in May 2021 ahead of the late Queen's then-upcoming Platinum Jubilee. King Charles and Prince William donned their wellies and outwear in the charming photo, planting a tree together to signify the end of the initiative.
Making some rare comments about his mother since her passing, the monarch reflected: "It is hard to believe that two years have passed since my mother and I planted a tree in Windsor Great Park to mark the commencement of the Queen’s Green Canopy."
Charles continued: "As the second planting season draws to a close, and with it this vitally important initiative, I particularly wanted to express my heartfelt thanks to everyone from across the United Kingdom who has helped to plant over three million trees to create an enduring legacy in Queen Elizabeth's name.
"This project has shown how simple, practical and positive gestures can make a big difference, and I can think of no more fitting tribute to Her late Majesty's 70-year reign."

Royal fans were quick to react to the royals' photograph, commenting on King Charles and Prince William's professional working relationship and sweet family bond.
"Aw what a lovely picture and wonderful way to end an important project that really helped the planet with millions of trees planted," penned a fan, as another chimed in: "A poignant symbol. Touching and wonderful."
"The comparison between these two photographs is so touching. So happy that Charles has William as a son and as an heir," echoed a third royal fan.
While King Charles' relationship with his eldest son William remains strong, his bond with his youngest son is seemingly fraught following Prince Harry's bombshell memoir, Spare.
It is not yet known whether Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, will attend the coronation of King Charles and Queen Consort Camilla on Saturday 6 May, though it has been confirmed the monarch has included them on the invite list.
