Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's relationship with the royal family may not be on the best terms at the moment, but the couple does share an incredibly close bond with Meghan's mother, Doria Ragland

Meghan has made no secret of the fact her mother Doria is "her rock." Not only does the Duchess of Sussex share her mother's passion for yoga, but Doria was a major support for Meghan when she became a mom for the first time, even briefly moving into Frogmore Cottage to help guide her daughter through the early stages of motherhood.

Doria also made an appearance in Harry and Meghan's Netflix docuseries, revisiting Meghan's childhood home and opening up about her daughter's mental health

It's clear to see that Meghan has a lot of love for Doria, as do her children, Archie and Lilibet.

Describing her mom on her now-defunct lifestyle blog, The Tig, Meghan once wrote: "Dreadlocks. Nose ring. Yoga instructor. Social worker. Free spirit. Lover of potato chips & lemon tarts. And if the DJ cues Al Green’s soul classic 'Call Me,' just forget it.

"She will swivel her hips into the sweetest little dance you’ve ever seen, swaying her head and snapping her fingers to the beat like she’s been dancing since the womb.

"And you will smile. You won’t be able to help it. You will look at her and you will feel joy. I’m talking about my mom."

Doria largely stays out of the spotlight, but whenever she is seen in public, she's often by her daughter's side. Scroll on to see Doria and Meghan's sweetest mother-daughter moments through the years…

A day before Meghan and Harry's royal wedding, the former Suits actress and her mom Doria checked into Cliveden House Hotel in Buckinghamshire where they spent the night before Meghan tied the knot.

Evidently, Meghan wanted nothing more than her mom and closest friend by her side to help ease her pre-marital nerves.

Meghan's beautiful mother-of-the-bride

Doria was every inch a beautiful mother-of-the bride at her daughter's wedding to Prince Harry. Looking radiant in a mint green suit dress, Doria accompanied Meghan all the way to St George's Chapel in Windsor ahead of her nuptials.

Meghan lit up the red carpet in an off-the-shoulder black dress and Doria wore a black pencil-cut frock with a lovely boucle jacket.

Four months after the royal wedding, Doria made a surprise appearance at the launch of her daughter's charity cookbook Together at Kensington Place.

Meghan and Doria's handshake

Last year, Spotify shared the moment Meghan's podcast recording session was interrupted by a FaceTime call from her mom.

The heartwarming mother-daughter exchange is something the Duchess of Sussex later reflected on in the episode. "It got me thinking about all the ways my mom supported me, how she took care of me and the house and herself… and how she just juggled so much…" said Meghan.

She also joked that they still do a handshake they've been perfecting since she was just eight-years-old, adding that being a mother can be "the most thankless unpaid labor there is."
