Savannah Guthrie is a doting mom to her two children, daughter Vale, eight, and son Charley, six, with husband Michael Feldman.
However, it also means that she's down to get firm when the need arises, telling Today.com that she believes in setting boundaries for her kids.
"I've never subscribed to that old-fashioned notion of 'Wait until your father gets home,'" she said, explaining that discipline comes from both parents.
"You're not parenting if your kid hasn't called you mean – that's how you know you're doing it right," the 51-year-old Today Show anchor continued.

"I don't like hearing it, but you have to have boundaries, you have to have those limits, and your kids won't like them. So sometimes you have to let them think that you're mean."
Vale and Charley, she explained, are expected to fulfill basic daily duties such as making their beds each morning, scraping their dinner plates clean and carrying them to the sink, and asking to be excused each time they leave the table.
"I can't say that I'm succeeding on any given day, but my hope is to raise kind, loving and appreciative children," Savannah added before sharing her appreciation for her kids. "They're great kids. And it's my job to just help them uncover that and not get in the way."
Savannah was away from Today the previous week to spend quality time with her family, taking the two to one of the Disney parks for spring break.
