Bill and ex-Melinda Gates introduce their first grandchild in sweet pics

Melinda Gates has officially become a doting grandmother! The esteemed philanthropist delighted fans on Thursday by sharing a heartwarming first glimpse of her cradling her grandchild, one month after her daughter Jennifer Gates announced the bundle of joy's arrival.

Melinda expressed on Instagram: "Nothing compares to the feeling of holding your first grandchild," accompanying her heartfelt message with a tender photo of her embracing the tiny baby against her chest as she sat in a chair.

She continued: "It feels like just yesterday that I held Jenn in my arms at this age. Now, she has a little one of her own, and my heart swells with pride watching her and Nayel embrace their new roles as parents."

The arrival of the precious baby marks a joyous occasion for Melinda and her ex-husband, Bill Gates, as they both become first-time grandparents. 

Jennifer and her husband, Nayel Nassarrevealed the birth of their child on March 6, sharing a charming snapshot of the newborn's tiny feet on Instagram. "Sending love from our healthy little family," the happy couple wrote.

Jennifer and Nayel exchanged their vows in a dreamy ceremony back in October 2021. To celebrate their first wedding anniversary, the couple posted a captivating video from their enchanting day.

Jennifer reminisced: "365 days ago, we committed to forever".

She continued: "Our wedding was a magical, surreal celebration, but married life has been even more wonderful. Feeling grateful to relive these memories today."

Nayel also took to his Instagram, gushing: "10/16/21 Easily the best day of my life. Happy anniversary to my amazing wife @jenniferkgates. This year with you has flown by, but knowing we have countless more to share fills me with joy and comfort. Love you more than you know."

Jennifer, who has an interest in the field of medicine and is currently working on her MD degree as well as a Master of Public Health degree, recently upgraded her living situation to make space for her growing family.

The young couple purchased a massive, $51 million triplex penthouse in a famed TriBeCa buildingwhich has seen the likes of Lewis Hamilton – who owned the unit prior to Jennifer and Nayel – Harry Styles, Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel, Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds, and Jennifer Lawrence also own apartments in it.

The penthouse, an 8,900 square-foot unit, also boasts 3,400 square feet of outdoor space, a private pool, six bedrooms, six baths, 20-foot ceilings, and more luxury amenities.

Aside from the Manhattan penthouse, Jennifer also owns a $16 million Westchester horse farm, a gift from her parents following her graduation from Stanford University – and where she tied the knot with her husband – plus, she also lived in a $5 million apartment, also bought by her parents, in Upper Manhattan, near Central Park and near Mount Sinai hospital, where she was studying during her medical degree.

At 26, Jennifer is the eldest child of Bill and Melinda Gates. The couple, who divorced in 2021 after 27 years of marriage, are also proud parents to Phoebe, 20, and Rory, 23.
