The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh's daughter Lady Louise Windsor sparked concern when she failed to join her royal family at the annual Easter Mattins service on Easter Sunday last week.

Despite rarely missing an opportunity to step out with her parents and her younger brother James, the newly appointed Earl of Wessex, 19-year-old Lady Louise was nowhere to be seen over the royal family's Easter walkabout in Windsor.

HELLO! suggested the studious teen may have chosen to remain at university in Scotland over the spring holiday. St Andrews, where the royal is currently reading English Literature, has just entered an official 'Revision Week' followed by an intense period of Semester Two exams.

While not confirmed by the palace, Lady Louise's absence seems most likely due to her wishing to remain there to make best use of the University's library facilities.

The royal's first Easter break as a university student was no doubt a bittersweet occasion. Not only is she facing an intense two weeks of first year examinations, but she also had to mark the second anniversary of her beloved grandfather Prince Philip's death without her family by her side.

Prince Philip, who died on 9 April 2021, shared an incredibly close relationship with his granddaughter. Lady Louise not only shares his passion for carriage riding, but has continued his legacy in helping to establish the equestrian-based activity as a recognised sport in Britain.

The late Queen Elizabeth II was moved to tears by Lady Louise as she looked on at her granddaughter taking part in the procession to mark the finale of the 'Gallop Through History' event. Lady Louise's appearance was all the more special given she also inherited her passion for equestrianism from the Queen.
