Exclusive: Ola Jordan opens up about post-partum hair loss and the products that have helped

Ola Jordan, 40, has been married to fellow Strictly Come Dancing pro James for 20 years. First appearing on the hit BBC dance show together in 2006, they have a 3-year-old daughter, Ella, conceived after a successful round of IVF. 

Ola has been dancing since the age of 12, competing in her native Poland and then at the famous Blackpool Tower Ballroom before rising to fame as a professional dancer on the hit BBC show. 

Synonymous with showstopping outfits and glamorous, scene-stealing hair and makeup, she admits “Our hair went through a lot by being ballroom dancers – there was a lot of gel!"

“My worst hairstyle when I was competing at Blackpool was a really short black bob, shaved at the back with a fringe – it was terrible. When I look at pictures now I think ‘What were you thinking?!’. During Strictly your hair goes through so much – years of backcombing. Then having a baby it went through a lot again.”

The couple announced their pregnancy news in HELLO! in September 2019, with Ola sharing: “I still can't quite believe it. It took us nearly three years to get pregnant so it was an emotional rollercoaster, a dream come true. It’s been amazing and overwhelming at the same time. We’ve wanted this for so long. Nothing in our careers measures up to this. It feels perfect.” 

Revealing how life has changed since becoming a mother, Ola confides: "It's not about me anymore. I literally go, 'Right James, I'm going to have a quick shower then I'll come back down’ – your time is totally gone. It's her time. The baby is the priority and that's it.

"I used to go to the gym when I wanted to, and have a bath when I wanted to, but now there's no time for a bath! There's time for a two-minute shower, if you're lucky! No one tells you what the right thing to do is, it's like a guessing game! You don't really know until you have your own child."
