Elton John and his family will no doubt be celebrating as the star's husband, David Furnish, marked his 61st birthday on Wednesday. Taking to social media, the Crocodile Rock singer paid tribute to his beloved with a selection of stunning photos.

The first black-and-white snap featured the singer and the filmmaker together with David resting his hands on Elton's shoulders. The 61-year-old looked super suave in his white suit, while Elton also looked very dapper in a black suit that featured an intricate pattern. However, it was the second image that really melted hearts as it showcased their children, Zachary, 12, and Elijah, ten.

The photograph was taken during the children's youth with all four members of the family pulling funny faces in the heart-melting family shot.

In a touching caption, Elton wrote: "Happy Birthday to the best Papa in the world! With all our love Elton, Zachary & Elijah," and fans were quick to share their thoughts for the sweet occasion.

One enthused: "I wish David a happy birthday from the bottom of my heart!" and a second shared: "Happy birthday mr. David and many more years of health and strength to you. You are amazing."

A third commented: "Wish you a very happy birthday and all the best for your new year of live," while close friend Elizabeth Hurley shared a string of heart emojis. However, one follower was not impressed with Elton's choice to make the photos black-and-white as they commented: "My god Elton it looks like he died, please don't post black and white pictures to congratulate someone. Anyway, happy birthday king."

Elton and David often choose to keep their sons of the spotlight, but the duo couldn't resist sharing an incredible video of the pair earlier in the year, and they looked so grown-up.

During Elton's Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour, David shared a wholesome behind-the-scenes video of the family trio waving at the music legend as he concluded his performance. For the sweet occasion, Elijah and Zachary opted to wear matching white T-shirts and coordinating blue trousers.

David gushed: "And off he goes… One final trip down the Yellow Brick Road. 330 shows under his belt. Finally off the road and into the sunset. So excited for the next chapter together. We love you Daddy."

Fans and friends flocked to the comments section to heap praise on the family, with one writing: "To us, he's Sir Elton John, but to them he's husband and Dad. Just wow,’" while a second chimed in: "So cool! Definitely a well earned retirement from touring. Also the boys are so big!"

Enjoy your family time and we have a lifetime of fantastic musical memories," and a fourth added: "Omg this is so bittersweet. I love you Elton, so much. Enjoy your new life with the boys."
