Fred Sirieix rose to fame after making his debut as the maitre d' of Channel 4's First Dates restaurant back in 2013. Since then, the French TV star has become a household name, featuring on various reality shows, including Gordon, Gino and Fred: Road Trip and I'm a Celebrity…Get Me out of Here.

But did you know that Fred isn't the only famous face in his family? His daughter Andrea is a diver for Team GB and is heading to Paris for the 2024 Olympic Games this year.

Taking to Instagram earlier this month, Fred shared his excitement as his daughter prepared for the competition. Sharing a sweet photo of the pair which sees Andrea donning a Team GB training top, Fred penned in the caption: "Et c'est parti! Next stop #Paris @paris2024 #GoAndrea."

Andrea Spendolini-Sirieix's sporting career

While Fred is now engaged to his partner, who's publicly known as Fruitcake, he welcomed Andrea during his first marriage.

The 52-year-old was in a 12-year relationship with Alex Spendonlini, with whom he welcomed his two children, Andrea and her brother Lucien.

An Olympic star, at just 19, Andrea has already competed at the World Aquatics Championships, European Aquatics Championships, Commonwealth Games, and the British Diving Championships, among others.

Earlier this year, Andrea won gold in the 2024 World Aquatics Championships team event. Days later, she won bronze in the ten-metre platform, making her the first British woman in world diving championships history to secure a medal in an individual Olympic event.

In March, proud dad Fred posted a snap of the pair, writing: "Keep being you and making herstory @andreassirieix04 never change mon."

What Andrea has said about body image

Earlier this year, Andrea spoke out against those who objectify athletes for wearing their uniform.

"I feel like now I’m a lot braver to actually call it out, but I've had DMs which I've blocked and deleted messages where people have (said) 'You aren't a good role model for the way you wear your costume'," the teenager told told the PA news agency.

"The fact that I'm throwing myself over 10 metres should be enough to start a conversation. If you're honing in on my costume, it's very telling about how you've conditioned your mind.

"When I see volleyball players (or) people in my sport who are overly sexualised, I kind of feel disgusted by that," she continued. "We've dedicated our lives to this. We're not doing this so you can tell us we look good. We know we look good! We work for these bodies."

The diver concluded: "People need to wake up. We can't change our costumes, but they can change the way that they think."

Andrea's journalism aspirations

Regardless of what happens in Paris, Andrea is heading to university in September to study journalism.

Opening up about her passion for telling stories, Andrea penned in an article for Metro: "Journalism has always interested me and I really want to be able to use that as a way of getting over athletes' back stories.

"At a certain point, I knew I wanted to do a degree or take a career in something that was as far away from sport as possible. I like writing and I like to talk, and hopefully I can also understand people’s viewpoints."

Andrea's family and inner circle

Andrea clearly has a close relationship with her loved ones. After competing in the World Aquatics Championships in February, she told the BBC. "Every competition I do, my family's always in my heart. I always do my best to make them proud."

Commenting on her father's fame, she said: "He's just my dad. I don't really see him as Fred Sirieix the maître d', I don't see him as anything other than my dad."

As well as her family, Andrea has the support of her best friend Ben, who she said is a "blessing in her life".

Marking her bestie's 21st birthday in March, Andrea shared her appreciation for Ben in a heartwarming Instagram post. "Happy 21st birthday Benjamin," she began. "You are a blessing in my life and a light in this world. You will always be my first and only choice in a duck duck goose game :) I am so thankful to God to be able to grow and learn alongside you. Thank you for being my best friend. I love you. Always."
