George Clooney and Amal Clooney are fiercely private when it comes to their family life, and they keep their twins, Ella and Alexander, away from the public eye.
However, despite their penchant for privacy, that's not to say they shy away from gushing about their kids and their roles as parents publicly, and have given the public plenty of sweet anecdotes about them.
Ella and Alexander were born on June 6, 2017, at St. Mary's Hospital in London, where Prince William and Kate Middleton also welcomed all three of their children.
George, who became a dad for the first time aged 56, declared at the time: "It was wild," explaining: "You know, everything is conceptual until it's real. It's like, 'Yeah, we're going to be parents, yeah.' And all of a sudden you go: 'Holy shit. I'm a parent!'"
George and Amal's twins are growing up to be quite the international set. Their dad is originally from Lexington, Kentucky, while their mom was born in Beirut, Lebanon, but was raised and completed her undergraduate education in England.
The Clooneys own several homes across Los Angeles, Mexico, London and France, though their most famous and beloved property is the 18th century, 25-room Lake Como estate, Villa Oleandra, that George purchased in 2002.
Though the actor definitely has the cred to proclaim himself a Laglio local, his twins already beat him to it by way of their fluency in Italian, which neither George nor Amal speak. The doting dad hilariously revealed to Jimmy Kimmel in 2020: "We did a really dumb thing, which is, they speak fluent Italian," adding: "I don't speak Italian, my wife doesn't speak Italian, so we've armed them with a language."
But while they've received the same upbringing, Alexander and Ella are very different, with George telling GMA star Michael Strahan — a fellow father to twins: "When you have twins and you're raising [them] the same time, the same way, and they're completely different human beings, you realize how little say you have in who they are."
Here's everything you need to know about how different they are.
Alexander, 7
Alexander is the older of the twins, born one minute and 49 seconds before his sister arrived, weighing five-and-a-half pounds according to an interview between George and The Hollywood Reporter.
Alexander certainly has a sense of humor, as George revealed he was prone to knocking on his bedroom door, and when he asks who it is, he responds: "'It is I, Alexander Clooney.'" This, naturally, cracks up the actor who revealed the adorable routine on WTF with Marc Maron.
The seven-year-old appears to be relatively oblivious to his father's fame, to the point that the Batman-obsessed boy didn't bat an eyelid when he found out George once played the superhero. He responded to his dad: "not anymore."
Ella, 7
Ella was born slightly later than her brother, weighing four-and-a-half pounds, and according to the actor, she looks just like her mom. "My daughter looks exactly like Amal," he said, adding: "She has big beautiful eyes … It's incredible."
While she may be a bit quieter than her brother, Ella has inherited her father's love of pranks, as George told Entertainment Tonight: "My daughter has now picked up the mantle. She used to think it was really gross, all the things we did, but then she saw how many laughs Alexander got and now she's taken it up, too."
The little one reportedly loves fashion, as her father described her as being "up in my wife's closet with purses going, 'Mine!'"
