Gisele Bundchen has been unveiled as the new face of Chanel No. 5 perfume. The Brazilian supermodel will take over from Hollywood movie star Brad Pitt to front the iconic brand's new campaign. The mum-of-two has reportedly been filming the advert with famous director Baz Luhrmann in Sagaponack, New York state.

According to WWD, Gisele was chosen as the face thanks to her "natural beauty and modern femininity." Aside from Brad, who was the face of the brand in 2012, previous ambassadors for the brand include Nicole Kidman, Vanessa Paradis, Catherine Deneueve and Audrey Tatou. Baz is already familiar with the brand's fragrance, having shot Nicole's campaign.

The new deal is likely to have considerably boosted Gisele's already-sizeable empire – Brad was reportedly paid $7million for the gig. Last year, it was revealed that Gisele was the world's highest-paid model for the seventh consecutive year by Forbes, having earned $42million in the business year. Marilyn Monroe is the current face of the fragrance. In October of last year, the fashion house used rare images of the late actress to air on TV and in print campaigns. In the short commercial, beautiful vintage footage of the gorgeous star is juxtaposed with the sound of her voice, speaking about why she namechecked Chanel No. 5 in the LIFE interview that skyrocketed the fragrance's popularity. "You know, they ask me questions," she explained. "Just an example: ‘What do you wear to bed? A pyjama top? The bottoms of the pyjamas? A nightgown?’ So I said, ‘Chanel No. 5,’ because it’s the truth... And yet, I don’t want to say ‘nude’. But it’s the truth!”
